Aging in Place Remodel

The clients are an older couple in their 60's who grew up in the 60's. Both realize that they are aging, but they want to be able to continue living freely without assistance, and so have decided to have an extensive remodel of their home.

The concept of 'Aging in Peace' provides fully accessible spaces without sacrificing the aesthetic aspects that make a house a 'home.' Ample circulation and proper clearances will make living in this home relaxing and enjoyable, rather than frustrating. By using the late 1960s as a guide and inspiration for the interiors, this couple is encouraged to re-live their younger years and feel revitalized in their old age.

Adaptive Reuse Barn

Metamorphosis is the concept that drives this adaptive reuse project, commissioned by a young couple beginning a new family. Multi-purpose spaces, expandable tables, and modular furniture contribute to the concept, as the melding of rustic and modern styles help to add further emphasis.

Here, the concept of metamorphosis celebrates not only the rebirth of this barn, but also the start of a new beginning for this optimistic couple.

IFDA Competition

The clients for this master suite remodel are a wealthy middle-aged couple who enjoy traveling to exotic locations and exploring new cultures. They have recently purchased a new house and want the interiors to express their personal interests and taste.

The couple's passion for travel and luxurious lifestyle is represented through the careful selection of furniture, accessories, and materials. Neoclassic and Rococo style furnishings provide an aura of opulence while decorations from various cultures dust the room with an ethnic flavor. Material selection follows this eclectic trend as marble, gold, velvet and silk are met with animal prints and exotic woods. This master suite will satisfy the couple's want for wealth and comfort, as well as their need for exploration and adventure.
